1, 2, 3 Cold Brew

We have just recently announced our partnership with Ironclad Coffee Roasters as well as the creation of our very own coffee, The Boathouse Blend! (served at all Boathouse locations and Casa del Barco.) This rich, new blend is a combination of Brazilian beans and Mexican beans from the Oaxaca region. Oaxaca is a huge inspiration for many of the menu items we create here at Casa del Barco so it only made sense to use this culturally abundant area for our coffee as well.

We want to take a step back from tequila and show you how to make cold brew coffee in the comfort of your own home. The process is very simple and aside from the wait period it takes about 5 minutes to prepare. Brewing cold brew coffee makes for a much smoother and less acidic coffee although it does have a significantly higher caffeine content. This recipe is great for summer cocktails and can be mixed with Kahlúa, tequila or another alcohol of choice for a very refreshing and delicious beverage.


Cold brew in 3 easy steps:

Step 1: Stir 1 ½ cups of cold water and ⅓ cup coarsely ground coffee together in a jar or cup of choice.

Step 2: Cover and let sit at room temperature for 12 hours or overnight.

Step 3: Strain twice. The first time through a wire mesh and the second time through a coffee filter. Then serve in a tall glass filled with ice and equal parts water and coffee. Optional: add milk.
