Our Story with Stone Brewing: Because Tacos Just Aren't the Same Without Craft Beer

This month we decided to take a small step back from tequila and shine the light on another love of ours...craft beer! Since we are big on all things local and Stone Brewing’s Richmond facility is only a 5 minute drive from Casa del Barco (does it get anymore local than that?) we decided it would be a great fit to highlight them for Our Story this month!



We’ve been big fans of Stone for quite some time now and have been pouring up their brews at Casa del Barco for a few years but last month we gained a new perspective and respect for them and their craft when our HOUSEpitality crew members took a tour of their facility. These guys really don’t play any games when it comes to brewing. With a space the size of two Walmarts and somewhere between six and seven miles of piping they bang out roughly 10,000 barrels of beer in ten hours! Two words: master brewers.




After they welcomed us to their stomping grounds we decided to bring them on out to la casa to show them how we do things (mi casa es su casa, right?). Although we don't have any big beer barrels or tasting labs we do make some pretty awesome tacos. During Our Story we like to show our vendors off to our guests as our chef creates an amuse-bouche and a dinner feature using their product. For Stone’s visit Chef Wingold prepared a drunken grilled octopus with Stone Smoked Porter salsa borracha & Stone beer cheese! This event gives our guests a chance to connect with the local vendors we use for our cuisine and beverages.
